How did you contribute towards the Pinning Ceremony's success? Overall, what were your observations of the ceremony itself? What went well? What could be improved/ done differently for next time and/or for culmination?
Leadership helped put together the quote banners to decorate the stage. Thanks to the Advisories creativity they looked fabulous. The ceremony overall was ok. It was great how students lead most of the ceremony. The band was a great addition. The kids were dressed nicely. However, it could have had an exit music. The time for the event was limited. Thus, if we want this replicated we must be in agreement to stay afterschool to not rush.
I agree that we could have had a recessional. I think that if we would have started earlier, since advisory was expanded, we probably would have been able to finish around dismissal. We should also start to prep students on proper attire at an earlier date, like beginning of 8th grade year.
Ms. Marquez, Mr. Mozer, and I watched the non-pinners in the library. They heard some motivational talks, completed a goals worksheet, and watched part of a movie. It was quite difficult for them to be in the library while their classmates were pinning. Hopefully, most of them step up and are able to culminate. I hope this experience was a wake-up call.
Practically I did not involve in the Pinning ceremony, but I made it a point to congratulate the candidates and encourage them for their accomplishment. They seemed to get a kick out of that.
Well practice could have gone a whole lot better. I know that some of my kids weren't 100% sure of what to do since we didn't really practice, so next time, practice will make a great difference. To me the picture after reading names could have gone better, I wonder was that really necessary when thinking about time. After the picture kids didn't know how to return to their seats, again since they didn't practice that. Over all i think it was a good ,just a few hiccups but nothing that can't be improved.
I like that banners were hung around but I would like them to be more accessible to parents and families. I think we can save speeches for the final culmination as we will have more time. A video with pictures would be nice to play in the background as parents wait and as students come in so both students and parents have something to watch.
Banners were great, and agree with Ms. Mendez that having them more accessible would be great.
Mr. Conroy mentioned having a screen in the gym--yes, it was hard to see anyone on the floor at teh front (advisories standing for pics, dance team performance).
Practice could extend over 2 days to ensure we all know how to walk in, walk up the stage, and return to our seats.

Time must keep a punctual schedule
